Oh, and the trees were beautiful

Well, I've managed to make it through unscathed which is pretty good since I haven't had a proper interview in six years! Almost 3 hours driving there, 3.5 interviewing and talking to HR, another 3 hours home... man does my butt hurt from sitting! So here's the rundown...

Got up, got ready, hair, bit of makeup, clothes, blah, blah, blah... I was a new woman! I looked pretty damned good if I do say so myself. It was a rainy day yet my hair looked good, my clothes didn't wrinkle, and my pants didn't fall off... go figure. Caught a glimpse of myself in one of the full length mirrors and thought, 'yeah, I'd do me'... lol! Classy, huh? =)

The hospital was really quite huge once I was inside. Most certainly I'd need a map and a trail of bread crumbs to find my way around. I got a partial tour, had a rather long interview and seemed to have just about everything they were looking for. Best part? I got to see where they keep the leeches! Yep, that's right... they have medical grade leeches for treatments. I can imagine it now... I'd be taking them out to sit in the courtyard during lunch; you know, chatting and playing games and such. Hey! Quit snickering! Leeches are people too, you know?! Er, something like that...

So now I sit and wait. I suck at waiting (no pun intended with the leech comment...). But, the moment I came home I sent two 'thank you' emails to the people I spent time with today. I will give myself a fighting chance, oh yes indeedy. I still suck at waiting though. Gah!!!!

I've done my best for this and it is now out of my hands. As I've said, I don't even know what I want, truthfully. If I hear anything significant, I'm sure I'll post it on here. Until then, I just...have...to wait....

Super for ya. Still have the fingers crossed for you but it seems that you're pleased with how it all went so no matter the outcome it's a positive right?

So in addition to the leeches do they keep maggots there?

anne said...

Well done, missy. I'll echo tom: surely, as long as you are pleased, who cares what the outcome is? The only thing that matters is that now, you know you can do it.
(And "yeah, I'd do me"? Classic.)

Good going and good luck! Did you also get to see any maggots?

Btw, your request for stalker tales is not going to be met for a longtime - Stalker A stumbled across my blog! Yep, indeed!

Well me-o-my you do sound pleased with yourself! Excellent. So now I'm pleased for you also. Glad the pants didn't fall down, nor any other strange misadventures. Hopefully not all the good 'people' there are leeches, hehe.

You're right. You've done your part. Sounds like you felt good about it, though, so that's a good sign.

Well, here's hoping. Medical grade leeches? It doesn't get much better than that.

Tom - Good thing I sent emails because I got a response from HR - difficulty with references. No problem, both issues solved within mimutes. Damn, I'm good. =) They didn't say anything about maggots. Although their job is just as fascinating, there are so many of them that I'm not sure I could keep their little faces straight. Or figure out which end is which, for that matter...

Anne - I found numerous doctors that may be willing to marry for residency if you are still interested. (Glad you got a kick out of that line;))

Nomad - No maggots but I did get an email addresses for the leeches. And what is it with stalkers these days?! Damn. Hey, I have some new connections that can literally suck the life out of them if you wish...

Terri - For all I know, the real leeches could be the good ones...lol. You are right... no strange misadventures; that in and of itself is a noteworthy thing!

Goddess - I firmly believe that when you do what you can, and do it honestly, if it is meant to be, you should embrace it. If it doesn't work, perhaps you should be grateful as it may not have been meant for you.

Kyknoord - It's in the works, so we'll see where it goes. Yeah, the leeches were actually so very cool. But I'm a nerd like that. =)

You are looking good darling. And it seems like that U had a good trip and everything went well after all... I'm glad that U feel much better now. I guess now U can chill a bit this weekend and paartyyy.
In regard to those leeches and maggots, please send them over here, coz I could use some for my next fishing trip.

anne said...

Absolutely! I'll still be my own woman, yes? :)

:)) ur sense of humor should have sure make them take U :D
Wish u best of luck. . .and a question: do the leeches play anything at lunch hour or would U just take them breathing fresh air outside?! ;)

Oh my dear Mr. F Cat - I'm not sure I can assist you with the proper accoutrements for your next fishing trip; I got sort of attached (again, no pun intended) to the little buggers. Would be nice to fit in a bit of relaxation this weekend. I've been going non-stop for a little too long.

Anne - Always! But if you'd marry and move to the same area, you'd no longer be 'me in another country'... Perhaps 'me on a different street?'...lol.

Me - Well hello there, me! =) My sense of humor can't be stopped unless I'm in a horrid, horrid mood. Even during interviews I manage to have it come through; it has a life of it's own. As far as the leeches, at first I thought I might play tag with them but after thinking about it, when you'd be 'it', you'd really be it...lol!

i thought leeches went out with wizards and knights and such....shows what i know..sorry your butt hurts...i'd offer to rub it and make it feel better, but you would get all offended and put leeches on me...yuck...

erghhh...hates leeches we do...

When I was about nine years old, my brother and I found a few of the blood-suckers on ourselves after passing through a swampy trail. I was horrified. It didn't help that I had just seen Stand by Me.

anne said...

Oh, we can cope with that, can't we? Especially if we really want to take over the world...

I actually did know someone who had medical leeches put on in the hospital after she had a finger reattached after an accident. Amazing how they work.

BTW, I've changed my name and moved my blog, but I think you'll still be able to recognize me.

Sorry for not commenting on here in a while, I haven't been able to get near a computer for long enough to check blogs recently. Glad your interview went well, I knew you'd do great!
As for waiting, I can't stand waiting either. Good luck on getting the job though!

I think that post, and the act it entailed, deserves a big "Yay !". Heck, seeing as you sound positively enthused about it AND managed to mention leeches I'll give you a bonus "Woot!" too.

So nice to see you facing Scary Things (tm) head on. That's what I'd expect from the real Livewire !!

wow I am way late for this one!!

Happy to hear you think of as satisfactory but if I were you I wouldn have sent the Emails ;-) I admit it works but the stupid person I am has always inhibited the contacts...

Guess U R the chosen one.

Mr. Decko - Yeah, leeches seem pretty old school but there's a particular reason they (and maggots) are used today. As long as I don't have to pull a sword from a stone, I'm cool with that. I don't think I'd toss leeches at you for rubbing my butt - I'm not offended so far...;)

Skram - Ew. Ew. Ew! I'd hate them then, too. Somehow looking at them in a huge apothecary jar makes me think more 'Far Side'...lol.

Anne - Come to think of it, that may fascilitate our plans...

Suzi - When you understand a little about how they work, it is truly fascinating. And I peeked over at your new digs and was greeted by Kam! How adorable! Nice place you have there, I'll have to give it a test drive later today.

Motor - That's ok Motor, I've been so busy for over a past week that I'm just getting to blogs now (other than these couple of posts) so I know how it goes. Why does it not surprise me that you are as impatient as I am? lol... thanks for the support!

Carpy - It's always the leeches that get a bonus Woot... =) It was a while since my last interview but I just did what I could. I tend to not intimidate easily in those situations so I don't get nervous. Three minutes into it and I'm joking about something or other. I think that takes people by surprise because they almost expect someone to be nervous. Sometimes, I'M the scary thing... lol!

Dr O2 - Not to worry, this may be an ongoing saga. Six years since my last interview and the first time I sent resumes via email... scary new techie stuff. Well, not really scary but just different. Following up with the email was actually a saving grace because they were having a problem with two (I put the wrong area code on one as it had recently changed) and the second, they contacted a reference at their work number and misunderstood, thinking I was referring them to my friend for an employment reference, which she was not permitted to give. I just told them to call back, ask for her and tell them it was 'personal'. This ref is the one that sends me fun packages all the time, so she is more than willing to do it. So what happens with you??? When you go looking for a place to practice, it's alot different, isn't it? Hey, at least you know you can use all of us as refs! ;) As far as the 'chosen one'...lol... yeah, perhaps chosen as the 'don't let this happen to you' poster... heehee.

I just saw a show about a doctor who uses leeches - it was pretty interesting!!

I'm sending good thoughts so whatever's best for you is what you get!! :)

Terri said...

LW and Anne... it may be logistically easier to take over the world together from different continents. You know, surround them and all that. Just a thought.

BTW Lucy, did you mention in your interview that you moonlight as a pirate?

LiVEwiRe said...

Kitty - It's really interesting once you get the 'pond dweller' idea out of your mind. These medical ones are probably cleaner than the people! I like the wish you sent along, btw - thanks. =)

Terri - Thats why we have you... we are going to start locally then make our international connection (you)! Yeah, uh, the pirate thing. Um... nope. After all, a woman has to maintain some mystery...

Dr O2 said...

hmmm... I haven' been in many interviews. three actually. two had happy endings & the third was ok until I decided not to apply the second session!! saw no point in it :-) I get so stupid sometimes I know but well that is me :-)

anne said...

OK, so we're good to go, yes?

LiVEwiRe said...

Dr O2 - We all get so stupid; that's part of our charm =)

Luke - The leeches are a pretty cool part of the job, tho, no? Oh yes, your 'blob'...that was funny. At least that makes me appear 'in the know'.

Anne - Let's formulate a plan!
