Ok, this is rich...

Last Friday I took a day off work to go to Ohio but ended up not going because of the flooding. Left to cover the shift was the other guy I normally work with (he's been there about seven weeks) and they called in another person with approximately the same amount of experience as him to cover for me. Both more than capable to cover things for a night with the help of the Pharmacists. So, I get there today and was met with all this panic and jumbles of words thrown at me. Once the cacophony quieted, I learned of the problem... my absence. It would seem that when the Saturday morning crew came in there were orders for meds laying strewn all over the counters that were never filled. Med orders! Not filled! In a hospital! So who do they tell... me! See, it would be too easy to tell the people that didn't do the work. Oh no, that's just not a viable option. They tell me. Me. I wasn't even there!

Oh wait. That's their point, isn't it? I have a suspicion that I'm going to have to BEG for days off from now on. Sometimes doing your job well does have a bit of a down side.

On the bright side, tonight I took on our tempermental med pre-packing machine head on. (You know, the one with no operator's manual.) It gave quite a load of shit that ended in numerous rolls of tape gluing themselves together, meds being crushed, said crushed meds burning on hot rollers and the eventual shut down of the job. Heh. Little did the machine know that the Queen of Stubborn was at the helm. I fixed it! I fixed it! I fixed it! As a bonus, I sustained no electrical shocks, crushed digits, nor was there any blood shed.

Damn, I rock.

Hell, yeah! Machines usually only give crap to people willing to put up with it. Good for you for putting that Terminator wannabe in its place.

Rock on, sister.

Any woman who can conquer a machine and whoop it up in celebration gets my bic lighter waving in the guitar-pumping darkness.

Although the Philip K Dick villain obviously had it coming, you're going to have to stop fixing things if you want days off.
I'm just sayin'.

Yep, surely sometimes doin yr work well gets ya in trouble!! & doin it bad surely ain't gonna work :-( there must be some workin-safe-o-meter with which one can measure the amount of effort he is to put for his/her work :-)

P.S: If you found one, buy me one as well :-)

Kyknoord - Well, now that you mention it, I swear the machine shuddered a bit when I muttered 'I'll be back...'

Jason - The bic! Awesome! What can I say; no chunk of metal was going to get the best of me. It didn't stand a chance. ;)

Anne - My very own PKD villain! It has taunted me in the past but I'm hoping it will now see me as the villain and remain compliant. Er, unless I want a day off... damn the dilemma.

Dr O2 - There's such a fine line, isn't there? You know, I bet I could look on eBay for the work-o-meter, they've got everything. I'll make sure to buy one for you, too!

Was there ever any doubt that you rock? Of course not!
As for conquering that little cyborg - well that ought to put a big dent in their plans to take over the world.

Yay for you!! Now I know who to call when my machines are being insubordinant (gee, is that spelled right? Oh well.)!

And maybe your workplace needs to provide you an assistant to shadow you and absorb all your knowledge. (Maybe a cute little cyborg?)

Impressive.

However, one mustn't be irreplaceable. Otherwise you'll never get a day off!

Chitty - I do occasionally doubt it but this reminded me that I do, in fact, rock! =) Come to think of it, I may have put a dent in more than just their plans (shhh, don't tell my boss).

Jarvenpa - Feel free to call me anytime you need to show your machines who is boss. Hmm, a little cyborg of my own? That just might work. =)

Bean - True that... lucky for my I have enough 'head up my ass' days to counteract it all. hehe!
