Ah yes, my pre-work serenade. Bet you didn't know I had one on a regular basis, did you? Well, I do. Jealous? Don't be. It's just some idiot incessantly blaring their car horn for almost 10 minutes straight, barely giving it a second to come up for air. They do this several times a week. Yeah, people are great, are they not?
So, here's my question. You know how 'they' say that tarantulas come over (from Ecuador, as my banana sticker says) in bunches of bananas? Is that true?! Truth, lie, I don't care - it's unsettling. Especially since I don't like tarantulas OR bananas. But I've been trying to choke a few down lately because of their health value. And I'm too lazy to cook much. Bananas, not tarantulas. I can't help but to think I'm eating microscopic tarantula eggs (or however they come to be). That's just creepy.
Liking neither and talking about both - nice.

I know a guy who worked in a grocery store in his youth. He says it's true. Snakes would also hitch a ride over. We're talking huge bunches of bananas, though, before they're whacked up into small bunches for sale.
I on the other hand think it unlikely that the nice fuzzy spidies would make it to your grocery store with the bananas (which, yes, are good for you: potassium! yum).
But then I like tarantulas. I knew one very well, once (a child who was a friend of my daughter's had one as a pet--back when they were, oh, 8 or so.) It was cute. I thought.
But I'm odd.
Jason - Ack! That does it. I'm never setting foot in a grocery store ever, ever again. Well, or until the weekend anyway. I don't even know why I think of these things! Now snakes are pretty cool in my book; I've even held huge eight footers - but they can't hide in my bananas! =)
Jarvenpa - I'll continue to direct all arachnids to you, and now my bananas as well...lol. When I was in Arizona (Sedona) a few years ago, I actually held one. Of course, I almost passed out, but it was an educational experience. Their 'fur' is much softer than one would imagine it to be. And being that they are really rather fragile physically, I should try to calm my fears. Maybe if they didn't have so many legs; that's what does it you know.
Maybe with a bit of ice-cream and chocolate sauce? Mmmm... tarantuala split
Just think if you eat spider eggs, than they might hatch and you'll have spiders in your stomach.
j/k
Sorry couldn't resist.
well first of all the good news is - tarantula eggs are way bigger than microscopic - you would see them on your banana for sure - especially since they're kept in a webby sack filled with hundreds of little eggs
secondly unless you eat the peel you won't be eating any other microscopic things that hitched a ride on the banana boat
third you're really freaking me out man!!
you HELD a tarantula?!?!! I can't even walk past them at the pet store without having a mini meltdown!! hehehe
Kyknoord - ACK! Ptooey! Now I'll be leary of eating ice cream, too!
John - Oh, you are soooo bad...lol!
Kitty - Ok, as long as I'd see them then I feel better. Well, not really, because if I did, THEN what would I do?! Haha - glad to have someone to freak out every now and then. ;) Yeah, I actually held one. For like, six hours. Ok, maybe it was 10 seconds but it sure felt like six hours. Better judgement kept telling me to fling that sucker off my hand but I managed to remain calm. Until it started to move... c-r-e-e-p-y. Who needs a cardio workout, I got the same benefit from holding 'Rosie' for a moment! Still don't know how I managed.
I'd never thought about tarantula eggs in my bananas. Now I will every time I reach for one. Thanks a lot!

Sorry to hear that your job is still a pain in the back side. I really havent forgotten about you. But I cant comment on one story if I dont know what was happening. My spidey senses is tingling.
I'm glad you clarified which one you were talking about - bananas or tarantulas. Cuz for a minute there, I was scared. :)
Memphis - Anytime; I'm here to spread enlightenment the world over about important issues like these. ;)
Whatalotoffun - And what will you do with all my spidies? Will they follow you home? (Just tell them not to swim back to me!) I like the idea of the coffee with sleeping pills in it for the Mr. - that would ensure you'd get a good few hours on line!
Bean - Spidey senses? Are you SURE that's what's tingling? ;)
Renee - Oh yes, definite clarification on that one! =) Some people do eat them, although I'd have to be on the verge of starvation or delirium due to starvation to crunch into one of those! Ew.
