Please, put the phone down.

Step away from the phone...

I was just sitting here moments ago, hoping to catch up with someone via IM - pretty much minding my own business. As my computer is located directly in front of two windows, I get a great view of the outside world. Today's view?

In this case, the outside world had huge teeth. And was furry. Yes, it was Benny. Boy am I ever grateful for him... for lo, in his powerful jaws was ensnared a creature of mythical proportion...

Yes, here is the creature Benny so bravely saved me from. Sorry, I suppose it would have been kind of me to properly warn you that I was, in fact, going to show a picture of this horrific beast. Unfathomable as it may be, I wrestled this wee beastie from Benny, risking life and limb. Well, moreso from Benny, but still...

If you know anything about rabbits, wild or domestic, you know that when they get frightened, they just freeze. For me, this is good. For me, this means cute photo ops. And 'squeeze' time.

Yep, just like this one. Now, this little one is still in a bit of shock from the run-in with the aforementioned feline so please, don't think I was being cruel. Well, maybe a little self-serving, but not cruel. To let it go immediately would have been the same as handing it over to Benny with a parsley garnish. I was merely giving time for the shock to wear off.

Ok, so I also happen to know that it is relatively easy to put rabbits in a 'trance' (this is a real thing) and, well, you can see for yourself. I promise you, this is not any form of animal cruelty. But come on, how cute is that?

So I had a few wonderful moments holding a baby bunny. It was old enough to be on it's own and hopefully when I let it go (unscathed), it chose a wiser, more remote path. And learned to hop faster. In the end, all was well.

Except according to Benny... he doesn't look very happy, does he? Oh well...

I'll avoid all the high-pitched sounds out of pity for your ears, but oh my god it is so small!

OMG that is the cutest baby bunny in the entire world. I love it. I must get my fat cat to capture one and bring it to me so I can put it in a little trance following your step-by-step instructions herein.

It's a good thing you have Benny there to protect you from such a terrifing beast.

Cute bunny.

Ah adorable, is there no limit to the cuteness?! Any my you've got some fingernails! I wish I could get mine that long... but alas, the horseriding isn't condusive to that sort of thing.

I can't believe you survived an encounter with the legendary killer rabbit.
You had him in your grasp and let him to to terrorize, maim and kill again! What were you thinking?
Thank the Goddess for Benny.

You have to beware of certain rabbits though, the beast of Caerbannog for example is "the most foul, cruel, and bad-tempered rodent you ever set eyes on!"

Anne - Trust me, I've made the same high-pitched sounds. Yeah, teeny and little and all that stuff. Sheer cuteness.

Rose - In the whole wide world? lol! Oh, bunny trances are the best... but uh, you think your cat will go for this?

JohnH - Yes. Terrifying. I am still in shock. Help. Flashbacks. Heh - poor Benny; I foiled his plan.

Hans - I've verified that it is indeed unlimited cuteness. My job is not condicive to growing nails either but lately, they've really gone a bit crazy. Better to grab the bunnies with...

Valhalla - I was going to put in a disclaimer saying that this was not another recipe... I've never eaten buns; I'm a food wuss! Besides, this one was just snack size.

Broomhilda - I'll be scheduling a psychiatric eval appt for next week in light of this traumatic event. BTW, ask the goddess to bonk Benny on the noggin for me so he stops bringing me offerings.

Heidi - Catnip and he'd be all yours... your feline for hire! =) He does bring me little lovlies, though.

Fence - Oh! The carnage! Perhaps I was too quick to joke about life and limb... according to that, anyway! So this cute, furry exterior may all be a ruse, eh?

Luke - There's hundreds around here, give or take. I'll have Benny bring you some; we have birds, squirrels, chipmunks, moles, frogs, field mice... take your pick.

i notice benny is giving you the cold shoulder in the last pic there, you robbed the poor guy of his afternoons entertainment. You didnt by any chance name the wee rabbit before you freed him? I'd like to suggest Humphrey, you can't go wrong with a name like that.

also Fence has an excellent taste in movies.

toss a holy hand grenade at the bugger!

Awwwwww....he's sooooo cute! Especially in the 4th pic!

And you have looong nails!

It may look cute, but thoughts of revenge are busy fermenting in that fuzzy little head this very moment. Just you watch - when the revolution comes, the rabbits are going to drug you and take photos and post them on bunnyblog.

All my cats bring is birds, and sometimes they chase frogs into the garden.

Cute bunny though.

That is adorable! How lucky was that little rabbit, right?

My dogs usually like to catch lizards...well, not actually catch them, but chase them along the wall and smoosh them to pulps with their paws. No where near as cute as your bunny though...in fact, it's downright gross....ewwwww.;)

The one where his little paws are sticking straight up in the air is really fabulously funny.

Prisoner - I know, I am mean to the boy. I actually didn't name the bun because I didn't know if it was a boy or girl. I do like Humphrey, though...

Beelze - Between the two of us, we had the tortoise and the hare... And yeah, there is nothing better than a little bun to make you smile. Glad to help. =)

JBean - At that size, they are rather cute and portable. They fit in pockets and everything.

Kyknoord - You know, I did think of something similar. I hope they change my name when they post my pics to protect the names of the innocent. Oh wait, I'm not innocent.

eKapa - Oh the horror! Tell me it isn't so. Although that would explain altered views on food...

Motor - I love frogs! When I 'rescue' them from Benny I end up playing with them for a while. Some resuce, eh?

Stacy - I loooove those little lizards! Granted, they aren't as cute and not nearly as cuddly... yeah, come to think of it buns are better. =)

Jay - Buns are so easy to put in a trance. Then they stay that way for a bit, making them highly posable! I like the one looking down over it's ears, too.

as someone who has a rabbit who lives with me and demands food, I wince at the shot where you're looking at the baby bunny's hind legs... don't try that trick with a grown up or they will take your face off with those back claws. I'm SERIOUS. they can kick like you wouldn't believe. do -way- more damage than cats.

LiVEwiRe said...

Terri - Warm and fuzzy is the perfect description. Bad mood? Just look at the pics! =)

Jenn - I know; the first one looks like I have a death grip on it or am trying to pop off it's little head. I assure you, no bunnies were harmed in the making of this post...

Alex - They are adorable; that's why I couldn't resist!

AnneBrev - How funny! I spent a weekend doing rehab training there! Did some raptor work, too. Fascinating stuff, lots of hard lessons and tons of 'human error'. Like you said, mom is coming back! Glad you enjoyed. =)

Monkey - Hello there Monkey! I agree 110% with what you said. I had an 8.5# French Lop for many, many years. I've been on the receiving end of those hind legs. Pro boxers have nothing on these rabbits! So, what kind of bun permits you to be in it's presence? I love them!

No need to worry. Benny told me that in lieu of the bunny, he decided to visit some squirrels down the road. And good, clean fun was had by all. ;-)

Seriously, I swear you've got good timing to catch Benny looking up like that in your first pic. :-)

LiVEwiRe said...

Banzai Cat - Hmm... 'cat'... are you taking Benny's side? =) I don't think the squirrels saw it as good clean fun but that's what they get for storing tons of nuts in my car every winter. As far as the pic of Benny looking up... he just wouldn't stop circling my feet. The camera was fascinating to him so I just gave in and snapped away! =)

my rabbit's name is Mercy; she's a 5-poundish bunny mutt.

I learned the hard way never, ever to pick her up without a shirt. it took a couple years for that scar to fade completely, but the lesson remains.

the domain name I grabbed for myself so I would have a permanent email is giantrabbit.com I think a house-sized rabbit would be way more destructive than most non-rabbit-cohabitators think...

LiVEwiRe said...

Monkey - I agree completely. No one would believe some of the stories I'm sure you and I could swap! Mine bit me so bad that everyone kept asking me if I was being abused. Seriously. I said I was; by a lagomorph! =) Great domain name, too.
