He's back home!!!
My little furry man is back home! I worked late tonight and on my way out of the car at home, I heard this pathetic little 'mew'. Several times actually... just didn't see any cat to go with it. In the dark, he came from behind my garage, walked behind my car, and tip-toed over to the door. He was emmitting little sonar like 'mews', rubbing up against me and doing some odd sort of kitty jig.
Upon first inspection, he appears alright save for the fact that he is thinner and lighter. Considering that he is one hell of a hunter, I'd say he was trapped in a garage or shed and didn't eat or drink for 5 days; he was a hoover when I gave him his food. I'm letting him relax and feel something normal for tonight then I'll thoroughly inspect him tomorrow. With his history of illness I can't be too careful. An interrogation may follow...
I didn't think I'd be writing this post, that's why I wrote the other one... to start coming to terms with the fact that he may have been gone. Tomorrow is another day and we'll see what happens, but for tonight, I know where my little Benny is. Playing the role of 'King' right where he should be.
Again, thank you all for your comments. It is good to know that others have faced similar situations and lived to tell or just that they simply want to show their concern.

Meow ... I knew he would return!
We all feel the need to take time off to nurture and rejuvenate the soul, even cats.
I’m happy King Benny came back to you… was there ever any doubt? :)
I'm soooo tempted to use this as a "told you so" moment....but I thought better of it.
To save this hassle in the future maybe get a small GPS attachment to go on his collar - that might work !
Huzzah!
Glad he came back.
As for what became of the 'replacement' cat, we still have both, but as my older cat wasn't there when the 'replacement' arriver, the replacement thinks she was there first, and the first one knows she was there first, so they do fight a bit.
Anyway, maybe yours will learn from the experience and not do it again!
YESSS! I am SO glad to hear he came back...did you cry when you first saw him? I would've had it been one of my fur-faced canines. I am a HUGE sucker for my animals!
Great news, Livewire...I'm so happy for you! :)
you can bet this was all part of some master plan of his, cats are like that. always plotting against us.....
Im happy that he came back. I bet that you want to tie him up now and never let him out of your sight :)
Fern Canyon Man - I'm glad you knew he'd be back because I wasn't sure. Thanks for carrying me on this one!
Chitty - You think he needed time away to regroup? I do hope King Benny is rejeuvenated after this scare.
Carpy - GPS... I love the idea. Of course he'd want a remote control (being the 'boy' that he is).
Motormouth - Thanks for the vote of optimism that Benny may wise up, but don't count on it. I really love your explanation on 'which cat came first'... and the answer is that each one thinks they were first and the other is just a passing fad.
Valhalla - Ditto! Hey... that's a new pic!
Beelze - Benny sends along several purrs for you in 'thanks' for your skritches! Of course now he knows he has 'fans'...
Stacy - Know what I first did? I actually said out loud "you aren't dreaming you bozo, are you?!" My voice was shaky and I didn't cry immediately, but once I got him safely on the patio... I sure did! Since he is such a terrible pain in the ass, I never realized how much I loved him until he was gone.
Heidi - Yeah, I'm considering grounding him for 2 weeks. And thanks for stopping by! I got to your site a bit ago (thanks to our 'Good Egg') and just fell behind on my visits lately in blogland. I'm sure you'll see me there again soon.
Prisoner - Sounds like you have had some experience with cats yourself. Either that or a paranoid streak a mile long... =) Either way, thanks for stopping by.
John - Thanks, I'm happy too! And part of me does want to tie him to one place so I always I know where he is. My leg? My arm?....
Wraith - thanks! And you are right. In the middle of it all, I'll take a little furry happiness even if just for a while!
Awesome! This cat has loads of good Karma!
Jugular - That he does! =)
