Everyday things that help us gauge our place in the world

From the third floor of the north side of the hospital, I can see a marina. It is on the river and doesn't take long before you empty out into Lake Erie. Almost every day for years I've peered out the same window and overlooked the same marina. As the seasons change, the boats come and go. In the winter, it is frozen and covered with snow. I've always enjoyed the view and taking it in but a part of me sees the same cycle occurring with the same end result. Year after year. Perhaps the concept is just hitting a little too close to home right now.
