Ever have a day that is really crummy? I don't mean mildly annoying nor do I mean that you want to erase it from memory, just really, really crummy.
I spent my entire day in full-on crummy mode. Didn't get enough sleep last night but it was ok because I knew I was off today and made plans to take someone to a medical appointment and do little else. When I got home from the aforementioned appointment, I had a message asking if I would come in to work to cover a shift which is, I should add, in the exact same building that I had just come from. Not a problem I thought, so I ate some lunch (which made me sick), and hopped in my car and off I went. No matter what I touched, it fell. No matter what I reached for, I bashed my hand into. When I attempted to do the parts of my job that are most important and that I am quite capable of, I screwed them up. Repeatedly. I should mention that these are things that require another person's assistance to reverse, so I can't just fix it and keep my mouth shut - others must know (enter dramatic music here).
I'm not sure which is more frustrating - reminding yourself that this was an off day (really off) or trying to convince others that you are not a complete imbicile. Eh, either way it sucks. There was almost no redeeming quality to the second half of my day with one exception... my dinner consisted of a salad and a whole grain roll; a nutty, delectible morsel of pure goodness that was most certainly the highlight of my day from the time I got to work. It's pretty bad when the shining spot of your day is a roll. Must be one shitty day or a damn good roll.
